It can be used both horizontally and vertically, outdoors and indoors, so REDSCAN has a wide range of possible applications It can be used to protect property boundaries, buildings, skylights, structures or other assets
It can also be used to make public transport safer by detecting unwanted persons, such as a person caught between rails

Built-in analytics – accurate determination of the size, distance and speed of objects

REDSCAN continuously scans the area to be protected and provides real-time X&Y coordinates and size information on all detected objects. This allows security personnel to track the movement of the detected object or person and always be aware of its current position. And the size information provided by laser detection allows you to filter the objects you want to detect by size. For example, it is possible to receive alerts on people passing through the area, while vehicles can be ignored.
Independent detection areas
The detection area of the REDSCAN sensors can be divided into two parts, and the outputs of the device follow this logic. This means that there are separate physical outputs for each side. It is possible to customise the size of the target, the sensitivity and the operation of the outputs separately for each side. This flexibility ensures that the REDSCAN can be interpreted as two independent sensors, allowing for greater adaptability to the conditions of the area to be protected. Each zone can activate a different action, depending on the user and site requirements, such as triggering a PTZ camera preset to track an intruder; activate lighting, sound alarms or send an alert to security personnel.
The REDSCAN series consists of four models, differing mainly in the size of the surface area that can be protected and the number of virtual zones:

The RLS-3060V:
• 30 x 60 meter (1800 m²) area

while the RLS-50100V:
• 50 x 100 meters (5000 m²)
Both sensors have a 190 degree field of view and can be used indoors and outdoors.
REDSCAN Pro detectors can be divided into up to 8 independent detection zones. For example, the RLS-3060 model manages 4 independent detection zones in analogue connection mode, while the number is 8 when using IP connection. These areas can be assigned as desired and can be used for different types of detection. For example, you can create a zone that triggers an immediate alarm, while movement in other areas can only be treated as a pre-alarm.

The size of the detection area of the REDSCAN and its wide range of configurations allow it to perform tasks that would normally only be possible using a combination of several sensors.
In addition, the sensor is equipped with a camera that can record alarm events, as well as photos and videos taken before and after the event. The purpose of this is to provide visual verification of the alarm after the event. This information can be a powerful aid in fine-tuning the sensor. In addition to the above-mentioned function, the camera is also helpful in the setup: the red line in the picture shows exactly the detection band in which the REDSCAN LiDAR sensor is scanning. This allows us to set the area to be protected with great precision and incredible simplicity.

Fence protection application
REDSCAN sensors can be used stand-alone or as part of an alarm system, as well as a complement to a video surveillance system. We can create virtual fences, protect the walls or roofs of buildings.
The REDSCAN series is a solution for all areas where the area to be protected is visible, large and flat. This includes fences, so we will show how these sensors can be used for fence protection.

There are many fencing solutions. There are some that detect direct contact with the fence, and others that detect the approach of an object, so that an intruder can be detected before they reach the fence. The latter category includes REDSCAN. So whether it's a woven wire fence, a welded steel mesh fence or a concrete fence, Optex's solution can be used for any type of fence, as it provides a form of optical detection. The only condition is that the plane to be protected is sufficiently visible. You can place the sensor on top of the fence or use a separate post as a bracket.
In the case of the RLS-50100V, this means that it can be used to protect a section of fence up to a length of 100 metres, in theory up to a height of 50 metres, which, let's face it, is far beyond practical requirements. A further advantage is that you can create zones/passages in the protected section where detection is not possible, i.e. you can actually block out a door.
One of the advantages of laser detection is its flexibility.
It can be positioned at any distance from the fence line to adapt to the installation environment. There is no need to keep a protective distance, as is a well-known requirement for radar barriers, so that Optex can be installed if there is a minimum width of "visible corridor".

It can also be used indoors to protect ceilings under skylights, for example, or in museums to protect artefacts on the wall. Due to the nature of the detection, not only crossing/transversing movements can be detected, but also the monitoring of an abandoned object familiar from video systems.
REDSCAN sensors have freely configurable relay outputs that can be assigned to movement events in a defined area. But that's not all. The sensor is capable of direct http communication with certain types of Dahua NVRs. This means that when a zone alarm is triggered, the recorder receives an http command that can be used to invoke a PTZ camera preset, meaning that when an alarm is triggered, instant visual verification can be obtained from the camera system.
Due to its high level of integration, the detector can also be adapted at firmware level to video systems from major manufacturers, so that instead of a wired connection, the desired positioning can be achieved by IP PTZ command.

The REDSCAN series offers a range of professional and high quality sensors, yet with a very high price-performance ratio. Thanks to the LiDAR technology, we can offer protection with extremely low false signal and high accuracy. Instant visual monitoring is also possible with the RLS-3060V and RLS-50100V. In addition to radar detectors, infrared detectors and other fence protection solutions, the Optex REDSCAN range from premium manufacturer Optex offers features that provide exceptional accuracy and customisability through the technology used.
