A Global Fire Equipment (GFE) has introduced OWL, an advanced "plug and play" fire alarm management and monitoring software for CHAMELEON Network intelligent control panels.
Thanks to the high-quality graphical user interface, OWL users can monitor the status of their fire alarm control panels and get real-time information and a complete overview of their entire fire detection system (FDAS).
Intuitive, user-friendly and very easy to set up and manage, OWL is the ideal solution for facilities of all sizes and types – supporting everything from single-panel systems to multi-panel and multi-site applications with up to 64 systems. Customers can use OWL to import their configuration files from the panel into the OWL monitoring software in three easy steps:
Step 1: export the configuration files from the fire alarm control panel to a PC.
Step 2: import the configuration files from the PC to the OWL software.
Step 3: commissioning the system with a simple click, drag and drop.
The OWL is fully compatible with GFE's CHAMELEON Network range of intelligent control panels (G-ONE , GEKKO and OCTO+). As it is a PC-based platform, OWL can be accessed simultaneously from different PCs, wherever they are in the world – provided they are on the same network – even over a VPN connection. The software can be backed up in case of a failure of the main PC and the client's configuration file can be restored.
OWL's elegant and easy-to-use graphical user interface displays all system devices and alarm events, as well as panel status information. Graphics and icons arranged in a simple and logical way – using a floor plan – allow users to identify potential fire alarms and faults in real time and then react quickly.
Each panel is displayed on the screen as if the operator were standing in front of it, and basic command actions such as "activate beeps", "mute beeps", "mute operators" and "system reset/quiet" can be performed intuitively from the main software menu. Simple control buttons allow the user to enable and disable devices and analogue values can be retrieved from all devices by selecting a menu.
The OWL software records every alarm, fault, user access and interaction on the FDAS, ensuring complete visibility of the system. The affected area of the building is highlighted and icons indicate the exact location of the alarm event or fault. All system interactions are logged and the log can be exported if required, for example to provide the insurance company with a log of alarms/faults in case of fire, or the fire brigade with a log for weekly fire inspections.
The OWL software has two levels of control: administrator and operator. Up to four administrators can have full access to the system and can use the software to make any changes to the system's causal configuration. Administrator programming is protected by a password. An unlimited number of users can receive operator control and receive email or SMS notifications, or both. Once users are defined, individual instructions can be given to each user.
