This year, the Techson brand is expanding beyond the world of security cameras and recorders, entering a new direction. Their product lineup will now feature intercoms, along with compatible indoor units and accessories. With these essential additions, there’s no longer a need to rely on other brands' intercoms with Techson’s camera systems, avoiding potential compatibility issues and saving both time and energy.
The First Pioneer: TCT DB102 Intercom
The TCT DB102 is a simple, sleek, and compact device designed to meet basic expectations. Moreover, it’s cost-effective, as there’s no need to purchase an indoor unit. The receiving end can be your mobile phone, which is already conveniently in your pocket!
Staying true to the concept of a video intercom, the device features a 2 Mpx camera as its main visual component. Notably, the camera offers a 170-degree field of view, allowing almost the entire area in front of the gate to be monitored, so visitors are clearly visible. For enhanced image quality, it includes an 80 dB WDR, ensuring reliable image clarity even under varying lighting conditions.
Lighting Options
Above the camera, lighting elements are placed: a large white LED and two infrared LEDs are built into the intercom. The white LED allows for colorful, detailed images even at night. For a more discreet option, the infrared light can be used, which provides a black-and-white image with less visibility. Users can choose their preferred lighting. Notably, the white LED only activates when it detects a face, preventing continuous illumination. The light duration can be adjusted between 30 seconds and 5 minutes.
Two-Way Audio Communication
Besides camera functionality, the intercom’s key feature is its two-way audio capability. The TCT DB102 includes a built-in microphone and speaker, equipped with noise reduction and echo cancellation to ensure clear audio on both ends.
Access Options (Ringing and/or Card Reader)
A button at the bottom of the device serves as the doorbell, featuring a tri-color LED indicator: red for errors, blue, and green during normal operation.
The device also includes a Mifare card reader with a 13.56 MHz reading frequency, expanding access and usability options. With the card, users can move freely within their home or office without the need to ring the doorbell—only guests will need to do so. User details and their associated card numbers can be stored and managed within the device’s own memory.
Connectivity and power options
Moving on from the basic functions of the intercom, let’s discuss its connectivity and power capabilities. If UTP cabling is possible, both network connection and power can be handled through a single cable, as the device is PoE-enabled. If cabling isn’t feasible but power is available near the gate, the device can also operate via 12V DC. Additionally, it can connect to the network through 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (though this connection can be affected by distance and environmental factors). Note that the device can only connect to the network in one way at a time, either wired or via Wi-Fi.
Embrace New Possibilities!
Examining the back of the TCT DB102 intercom reveals further exciting features. It supports an SD card up to 256 GB, enabling it to record videos and images independently.
Equipped with a tamper button, the device can trigger an alert if anyone attempts unauthorized removal or damage. It can capture an image and record the event, and it’s even capable of sending an email notification about the tampering attempt.
Additionally, for more sophisticated usage, the intercom has a door-opening output, and a door-opening button can be connected. It also features a door contact input and is capable of communicating via Wiegand or through an RS485 connection.
Remote Door Opening with One Click
After reviewing the TCT DB102 intercom’s features, the most important aspect remains: how do we open the door remotely?
The intercom can be programmed through its web interface, which also provides a Hungarian language menu. (In the future, the device will also be equipped with Hungarian voice prompts.)
The TCT DB102 intercom can be controlled remotely via the SuperLive Plus mobile app. By scanning the QR code, users can quickly sync the device with their account, establishing a connection through the cloud service. Once set up, incoming calls trigger notifications (vibrations for Android, calls for iOS) on the phone, allowing users to answer, decline, or open the door.
Additional Professional Accessories
The TCT DB102 intercom can meet nearly all essential intercom needs on its own, but you can further enhance the system with additional professional accessories. To ensure durability, a rainproof frame (BKTDB1S) raised installation box with rain protection (BKTDB1SJ), and slanted wall mount (BKTDB1A) are available.
If you want to get ringing in addition to the mobile app, you can do this with the TCT DBC1 indoor bell, which can also be used and configured in no time using the push buttons on the device or via the TCT DB102 web interface. The volume is adjustable and you can choose between five different rings!
The future of intercom systems: indoor and outdoor units
Techson’s intercom range continues to expand with the introduction of the TCT IS716, an indoor unit featuring its own LCD display, enabling connection with outdoor intercoms over an IP network. Multiple intercoms or even cameras can be integrated into this unit.
Additionally, the TCT DS302, equipped with a 2MP camera and supporting both push-button and card reading, is an ideal solution for multi-apartment buildings or residential complexes, utilizing an IP-based system with Techson products.
In summary, the TCT DB102 is the first intercom for the Techson brand and is a versatile device that serves all the needs of a basic intercom. Configuration takes just a few minutes with the right networking skills and a stable internet connection, and you can integrate it into your Techson system and use it to guard your doors and gain access.
