The TCI ES4 E102 WIH AM Z4 and TCI ES4 C002 WIH AM Z4 cameras in Techson ES4 series can become prominent players in night-time surveillance. They have been adapted to night-time operation in many ways: in addition to excellent light sensitivity, they are equipped with IR and White LEDs, and thanks to artificial intelligence, they can also detect and distinguish human figures. The light sensitivity and image quality of security cameras are improving dynamically year on year. Unfortunately, however, this development is limited after a while by the basic rules of physics and image processing. With the right lighting, it is no longer a challenge to produce good images and videos, but in the absence of good lighting, it remains a challenge.
With the help of infrared LEDs and artificial intelligence (Smart IR), night images are becoming more balanced (shapes and faces can be properly made out), but infrared illumination does not give them nearly as much detail ("colourless") as working with white light.
The ES4 WIH cameras (with both white and IR LEDs) can be used in three different modes for night surveillance. Basically, it can use its infrared LEDs to produce the black and white shapes you are used to seeing. The second option is to use the white-light LED. This way, in addition to the shapes, the colours will also appear in the image. The third option is to combine the two technologies.
In this combined setting, the camera uses mainly infrared LEDs for general surveillance at night. In addition, thanks to its object identification capability and artificial intelligence, it continuously monitors the area under observation and analyses what objects are in its field of view. If it detects that a human figure appears in the image, it switches from infra LED to white light illumination. As soon as the human figure leaves the image, the camera switches back to its hiding mode and continues to monitor the area with the infrared LEDs.
Why is this good for us?
If you just think about the price of using it for security purposes, the white light illumination gives us a much better picture of a potential intruder, not only can we observe their shape and clothes, but importantly we also get a colour picture of the person and their surroundings. It can also act as a deterrent, as the camera, which was previously in the dark, will suddenly illuminate the person or persons in the area, warning that the area is under surveillance. In addition, the sudden light can draw the attention of others to the event.
In addition to its security applications, a Techson camera can also help you in your everyday life. Lights that are combined with a motion sensor are becoming increasingly common, reducing power consumption and speeding up passage. However, such motion sensors are typically not optimised for human figures, so they are often triggered by the movement of animals or plants. The use of ES4 WIH cameras can be a solution to this problem. If you arrive home in the evening and want to make sure you don't have to walk past your house in the dark, or blindly fumble for keys and lock at your front door, such a camera can easily illuminate the area.
